A little bit of his story..

A young, black cat Van showed up stray/semi-feral 8-10years ago. I was into TNR in Whittier so I brought him in to Feline Fix immediately.

A week or so later, a small feral tabby showed up on my porch. I did my TNR on BK (BabyKitten-I didn’t name her :-). Unlike all the other ferals, both Van and BK stayed on my porch to sleep and eat and just be together. I watched them quickly become very attached to each other.

Van warmed up to all humans after just a few weeks of consistent love from me, but BK always stayed feral-petting her only a few times with one finger while she was preoccupied eating. So I fell in love with these two best buds. I love them as if they were indoor kitties making sure they have heated winter cat houses, warm food day and night, dry food and fresh water all day including hiring catsitters for porch care when I am away.

This past Spring 2017, BK vanished. Van and I are so very sad. Van has shown more interest in coming inside and is wanting more time with me I think because of this loss. I quickly made it my goal to get Van acclimated to being an inside cat and to spend the Winter of 2017 cozying up with Olive and I.

Olive, my 70# pony-dog loves cats-perhaps a little too much. Van and Olive are fine outside my home. But inside, Olive gallops to play and Van is only terrified, hissing and begging to go outside to get away from her. I’ve worked since October to get Van comfortable with being inside in a variety of different ways. And, I have made little inroads. I feel I have to give up on these 2 becoming civil enough to be housemates and look at other options.

I have always travelled a lot but this Summer 2018 I anticipate being on the road most of the time; I’ll be taking Olive and renting my house for 4 months. It just is not fair to hire a cat sitter for Van-it is time for me to find a new home so he can get the love he so deserves.

I’m so sad to let him go. I love him dearly.

He is a true lover; he deserves a loving inside home.

Van has grown up with cats so they are not an issue. And no dog, or a dog who doesn’t want to play with him would work best.

I thank you in advance for your consideration of my situation, and please feel free to pass this story on to other cat lovers or reach out to me with questions about Van. I am willing to pay for his routine vet care for the rest of his lifetime. I just want him to be happy, loved and well cared for.
